The seasons are changing, Bali resembles something out of Water World the last few weeks, it’s been raining every second day. One bonus of shit rainy weather is that the cloud cover seemed to have stopped the wind. Thank God!
No wind means that almost everywhere would be good. East coast, the Bukit and even further north on the west coast was going off. The swell was a good size for most places but I decided to hit one of the new spots and boy did it deliver. I rocked up at 7am and it was sheet glass and there were perfect three to four foot tee pees coming in all over the joint. I had Asher Pacey and Hawaiian photog Seth Johnson in the car with me and we were all loosing it.
We surfed this perfect beachie pretty much to ourselves for almost three hours and got some really fun barrels. Asher definitely got the best one of the day, you can check it in the video below. This wave is a lot like south Straddie, so it was good to have a sense of home whilst having a good time in Bali.

That night, we had a massive night planned. Mark Matthews and Richie Vass flew into town to help Kid Mac shoot a film clip for his new track 'Freedom' , which is gonna be a massive hit. We started out on the Binnies at sunset in front of the bungy tower, went for a mean feed at TJ's and then headed straight to Eikon, where I was DJing and Kid Mac was performing for a segment in the clip. Shit got outta hand and besides TB's birthday party back in June, this was by far, the best night out this year. Here's a clip of the crowd going wild when Macca was performing...

We had two days of Keramas as good as it gets. Six foot plus sets with only 10 guys out and the best waves I’ve had all year! It was such a relief to have pumping waves so late in the season and it was definitely a good way to send me off before I head back home to the Goldy.
I’m off to the island of Rote tomorrow for a week of, well, I don’t even know what to expect. I’m heading over there to compete in the international division of the ISC Rote Open so I’m sure I’ll have a good story to tell you next week.
Make sure you check back to see what happened.
Otis Eyewear had their 2011 campaign photo shoot at Komune Resort in Coolangatta in March. Kicking off with a studio shoot upstairs in the hotel room, the beers soon started flowing and then they went mad downstairs in the newly revamped pool area. Unlimited drinks, rigs kickin' round in bikini's and beats from ADAM&EVE (Otis team rider Adam Bennetts). What more could you ask for on a Wednesday afternoon?

This week was by far the most hectic week Iâ??ve had in Bali. We surfed our rings off all week followed by a massive weekend. On Friday night Reef premiered their movie, Cancer to Capricorn (on the cover of ASL 263 on sale now) at the Hard Rock Hotel. Along with the movie premiere they also had the semi-finals of the Miss Reef Bikini contest and I was in charge of the music for the night. Who was I to complain?
After surfing hung-over all morning on Saturday we had to meet down at the beach mid afternoon so Nate Lawrence could whip us in on his ski for an expression session. The conditions were perfect, the wind was super light cross/off shore and there was a perfect three foot left bank in front of the massive stage Reef had set up for the Miss Reef finals.

The surf contest finished earlier in the day but the beach was still crowded with everyone gathered on the waters edge where we were whipping in. At one point I looked in and it resembled the shoreline at Snapper during the Quikky Pro. It was really cool â??cos the crowd was so close to us in the water but the cheers were epic when someone landed something big.
Thereâ??s no half measures here in Bali. Reef going all out for the finals day.
During the expression session, Paul Fisher and Tai Buddha were on the mic writing everyone off. It was the funniest afternoon of surfing Iâ??ve ever witnessed and when the surfing wrapped up the finals of the Miss Reef bikini contest began. Once again I was in charge of the music. You should have seen this set up they had on the beach, the thing was amazing! It was like being at a festival at home and it was best sound system I have ever DJâ??d on. Off to the side of the stage there was a VIP area where we were signing posters for the crowd. Miss Reef Argentina also flew in and I had the best seat in the house.

After the Miss Reef finals, a couple of sick bands from Jakarta played until late. I was DJing at Divine Wonderland that night as well so naturally the party kicked on there until the early hours of the morning.
The surf was small for the next couple of days so it gave us some time to nurse our hangovers and recover from going big during the tow session. Keramas turned on for some good waves on the Wednesday. Check out the video below.
More Bali goodness coming next week, get over here if you can!
